Weekend Pictures

Pics from 1/27/07-1/28/07

3/4/07- (see pics here) Got up early and head toward PI to the trail along B. Follow it to Trail by M south. Got to Boulder at 10:30 and stopped by Bill at JJ's for a hot Cocoa. Came the North route home past the cabin. Checked the cabin over. Headed back to MW. I loaded the sleds and then went down to pick up Dave and Kay as they were returning the rentals at North Country. Sleds had to be back at 1:00. Trails were great all day. PI and MW were perfect, but Boulders were pretty loose, they never set up the night before. Still nice and smooth.

3/3/07-Got up early and made breakfast. Prepped sleds and went to North Country at 9:00 to pick up 2 rentals. 550 classic Polaris with reverse and electric start. Real nice. Went up Circle Lily road to Fisher Lake trails to Mercer. Filled up with gas and headed north on the grade. Cut West on trail 13 past Gile Flowage to Montreal. Had lunch at Squeak's then headed toward the vista trail #6. Just beautiful with all the fresh snow. Came through Iron belt and headed down towards Island Lake. Got gas at Island Lake lodge and went south on trail 9. Got on trail 12 towards Mercer and went past Lake of the Falls. Went to Mercer and went home through Manitowish to MW. 130+ miles and hit about 2 bumps all day. Trails were 9.5+/10.

3/2/07-Got up to the Pea Patch to stay at 6:00 with Dave and Kay. Went to eat at Little Bo for great fish. Went to Matt's to pick up sleds. Brought them back to the Patch and unloaded.

2/18/07-Got up and left early, I was back in Appleton by 2:00.

On South End of Lake Gogebic (Lucas, Matt, and Mike)

2/17/07-We anticipate a 180 mile drive. Matt and I met Lucas at Greer's Pier at 7:30 AM. Skipped across Spider, Stone, Fawn, Clear, and Big lakes before shooting into Boulder. Had breakfast at the Outdoorsman. Thanks for breakfast Lucas, I owe you. Then the three of us filled up on gas and food, and went to leave. Oh yeah, we had to backtrack for Lucas' cell phone. light snow falling as we headed to LandoLakes. Shot across Cisco Lake in MI (part of Cisco chain) and stopped at Cisco lodge to warm up and get a map. Headed towards lake Gogebic, but trail closed. We had to go to Marinesco before heading to Gogebic. Got on lake and shot over to the Fisherman in the snow. Had some soup for lunch. Trails were icy, but fast and smooth. At Berglund we refueled and headed to Silver city. Trails were 2 foot moguls. At Silver City there were sleds everywhere. We flew from Silver city to Berglund. By the way I am missing a kidney and think it fell out in that 30 mile stretch. We rode back down Gogebic to Marinesco to PI and stopped at the Yacht Club by 4:30. Lucas had a hard time keeping up with that new dogg of a sled--just kidding, it is a sweet machine. Ate dinner at the Bear Bar. Rode with some friends to the Broken Oar and went home late. In toll we put on over 221 miles. No breakdowns or problems. We were safe, but did push it to put on the miles. We all hope to do it again soon--sorry girls.

2/16/07-I got out of work late, and pulled into MW at about 9:30. Talked to Lucas and he would be up about 11:00. Matt and I went to the Broken Oar to meet with Lucas and plan our trip early in the morning. We planned to go to Boulder, Land O Lakes, Lake Gogebic, Berglund, Silver City and then return through Marinesco and PI. In bed early.

2/11/07-We enjoyed the outdoors, but did not sled. Next weekend is a boys only trip from MW to Silver City (porcupine Mtns) Stay tuned for trips and conditions.

2/10/07-We rode to Deer Path for lunch. Nice new owners with good soup and sandwiches. Trails were in nice shape south of MW towards Boulder. Corners are super icy, but for no new snow groomers are doing a great job. I would give them a 6/10 considering the lack of snow. A foot of fresh stuff and they would be an instnat 9/10. BE CAREFUL, lots of friends have been rolling sleds and getting hurt with the ice, slow down!

2/9/07-We left Appleton at 4:45. Heading up for Audrey's birthday. Got to Matt and Audrey's at 7:45. Headed to Bear BAr for fish. No new snow since 2 weekends ago.

1/26/07-We left Appleton at 5:00. Got to the Timberline and checked in by 8:00. Had some fish at the Bear bar with Gary and Mary Sue.

1/27/07-Got up early and went sledding. Went through Winchester to Bear Bar, PI, Fischer lake trails to Mercer, Lunch at Around the corner pub. Finally we returned to the Pea Patch in MW through Manitowish. Trails were somewhat beaten and very Icy in the corners. I would give them a 4-5/10. Went from Patch back to Bear Bar, then back to MW. Took winding trails up and Circle Lily road back. Circle lily was great riding. Unplowed roads are best. The windy trails are beaten. Was supposed to snow 6" Friday night, but none fell. Some snow showers today. Drove cars to Bear Bar to have dinner.

1/28/07-Supposed to have 6" last nihgt, 1" fell. Drove out to cabin to check it out. Then we had lunch at the Pea Patch and departed for home.

12/29/06- Driving in the dark to MW was quite an adventure. The snow from a week ago was still hanging on the trees and weighing them down. It rained from Appleton to Tomahawk, there it turned to freezing rain. North of Woodruf the snow began. They had 2-3 inches and the roads were slippery.

12/30/06-We took a ride from MW to the bear bar. Trails were rough, but nice to be out. On the way home we took iron county trails to circle lily road. That was smooth and a fun ride. We retired the sleds for the night and went out to dinner.

12/31/06-Awoke to rain, and lots of it. It stopped in the afternoon, but the damage was done. In the evening it turned to snow and 3 inches came down.

01/01/07-No sledding, because the Badgers are playing in the Capital One Bowl. They won. On the way home, lots of snowmobilers out. I guess the trails faired pretty well with all the rain. Oh well, the season is just starting.
